For core mounted backgrounds the system used is based on the Expan chain operated drive developed by Manfrottto. The Expan can be mounted on dedicated hooks which vary in shape and design depending upon the number of backgrounds to be used. If, as usually happens with canvas backgrounds there is no central core around which to mount the background material, Manfrotto provides a 3 section telescopic pole that can be attached on top of a set of two stands, making it ideal for location assignments.
